Short answer: RxDC reporting is an annual submission of prescription-drug and health-care spending data that group health plans must make to the federal government under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. It’s generally due June 1 and is usually filed by the carrier, TPA, or PBM on the plan’s behalf.
The “prescription drug data collection” (RxDC) report gives regulators a picture of what plans spend on drugs and care, including the most-prescribed and most-expensive drugs and the effect of rebates on premiums. It applies to virtually all group health plans (excepted benefits are out of scope).
The report is generally due June 1 each year for the prior calendar year. In practice the carrier, TPA, or PBM submits most of the data files, but the employer should confirm the filing is happening and provide the plan-level information requested; responsibility ultimately rests with the plan.
