Deductibles

A deductible is the amount a member pays for covered care before the plan starts paying. Plans may apply separate medical and drug deductibles, and some services such as preventive care are covered before it is met.

What’s the difference between an embedded and an aggregate family deductible?

June 28, 2026June 28, 2026 by HealthInsuranceFAQs

With an embedded deductible, each family member has their own individual deductible inside the family deductible, so one person’s claims can be covered before the whole family amount is met. With an aggregate deductible, the entire family deductible must be met before the plan pays for anyone.
